Life Skills Therapy Celebrates 5th Year Anniversary
September 15, 2016: We are very pleased to be marking our fifth anniversary. It is particularly gratifying to celebrate this anniversary as Life Skills Therapy has established itself as a quality health care service provider as a result of our hard work and commitment to quality over past five years. We would like to acknowledge all our staff, customers, stakeholders, and friends for their continued commitment to LST. We are only getting better with age!!

Complex Care Facility Contract Awarded
July 1, 2016: We are pleased to announce that we have been awarded a service contract for occupational and kinesiology services by Zion Park Manor, a complex care facility. Services under this contract are targeted at wheelchair seating, positioning, designing exercise rooms, equipment recommendation, transfer and lift assessment, functional training, and overseeing the 99 bed facility.

Working with Stroke Survivors: How to Maximize their Potential
April 4, 2016: Life Skills Therapy successfully hosted our two part workshop on Functional Use of Upper Extremity; and Functional Use of Lower Extremity. This is part of our series of workshops on Working with Stroke Survivors: How to maximize their potential. The workshops were jointly presented by Amit Kumar, OT; and Kim Hall, Physiotherapist at Physio2u. Over 35 rehab professionals attended the workshops.

Workshop on Stroke Rehabilitation
January 4, 2016: Life Skills Therapy and Neurofunction Rehab invite you to attend our 2-day workshop to learn functional upper and lower extremity exercises and handling skills for people with neurological impairments. The workshop is aimed at Kinesiologists, Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy new graduates and students who want to learn and improve their handling skills to ensure a safe therapeutic environment for neurological impaired clientele.

Stroke group therapy program a big success
June 22, 2015: Our 10 week upper extremity group therapy program was successfully completed on June 16 with a surprise potluck lunch organized by our participants. Kudos to the stroke survivors for their active and enthusiastic participation in this program. We now look forward to the lower extremity group program.


PGAP now available at Life Skills Therapy
May 7, 2015: As part of our commitment to quality and to provide evidence based practice, our therapists are now trained in PGAP (Progressive Goal Attainment Program). PGAP is a 10 week standardized evidence-based intervention program for reducing disability associated with pain, depression, cancer and other chronic health conditions. Life Skills Therapy now offering BrainFx assessment
April 16, 2015: We are pleased to announce that three of our occupational therapists are now certified BrainFx 360 administrators. “BrainFx 360 is a new, comprehensive, standardized, research-based digital assessment tool that is designed to measure the functional impact of mild to moderate brain injury or disorder” (BrainFx.com). Kinesiology/Rehab Assistant services now available at Life Skills Therapy
Sep 15, 2014: We are excited to now offer kinesiology/rehab assistant services. Our kinesiologists are fully registered with BCAK and carry comprehensive liability insurance. Our kinesiologists support our own results oriented rehabilitation programs, as well as are available to external organizations. Our kinesiologists/rehab assistants speak Punjabi, Hindi, Serbian, Croatian, and Korean. Services are offered throughout Lower Mainland. Here is a picture of the team:



Life Skills Therapy at South Asian Health Expo 2014
January 27, 2014: Amit Kumar was invited as a guest speaker by the organizers of South Asian Health Expo in Surrey. Amit spoke about occupational therapy in bone health at the South Asian Health Expo held on January 26, 2014 in Surrey which was attended by over 200 people. Surrey Business Excellence Awards 2013: Life Skills Therapy declared Winner
November 15, 2013: Hooray!! Life Skills Therapy was declared Business Excellence Award Winner 2013 in new business of the year category last evening in a wonderful event organized by the Surrey Board of Trade (SBOT). We are honored to receive this award and would like to thank SBOT for this honor; and to our staff for the wonderful work over the past two years. Working with Stroke Survivors: How to Maximize their Potential
November 4, 2013: Life Skills Therapy successfully hosted a one day workshop on Working with Stroke Survivors: How to maximize their Potential on November 2. It was presented by Amit Kumar, OT and Erin Reeds, Physiotherapist. 25 rehabilitation professionals attended this workshop.

Surrey Business Excellence Awards 2013: Life Skills Therapy named a Finalist
October 3, 2013: We are very pleased to announce that Life Skills Therapy have been named a finalist in the Surrey Business Excellence Awards 2013 in the new business of the year category! This event is sponsored by the Surrey Board of Trade and “focuses on the strength and innovation within every entrepreneur to take an idea and use it as the foundation for building a business”. It is a great honor to be named as one of the three finalists as over 2000 new businesses are registered in Surrey every year. The winner will be announced in an academy-awards style event which is Surrey’s premier business event of the year! We are looking forward to the event next month.
